Corona and arcing on power lines and substations causes physical damage and accelerates degradation of ceramic insulators, iron ceramic insulators, and other components. Consequently, corona and arcing are indicators of defective components that may lead to an unscheduled outage. Corona emits radiation mostly in the ultra-violet (UV) range, which is invisible to the human eye and cannot be observed during daylight by most corona cameras. DayCor® bi-spectral imagers can image weak UV emissions even in full daylight. - Ofil LTD's UVolle'-S affordable, hand-held corona camera is a robust, rugged bi-spectral UV-Visible imager designed for routine maintenance in high electromagnetic fields such as substations. The imager produces still images of corona and arcing activity with an easy-to-use shoot and store activity. This lightweight corona camera clearly and accurately displays corona and arcing images that are "solar blind," so they can be seen easily during daylight operation. The UV Events Counter enables operators to determine the strength of the corona. The unit features corona magnification, easy-to-use joystick control, and a clear color LCD display. Report writing software is available. Ofil LTD's UVolle'-SV model adds video recording capabilities.
- From Ofil LTD the DayCor® Superb hand-held UV-Visible detection apparatus features absolute solar blind detection and high resolution pinpointing detection to accurately pinpoint sources of corona, partial discharge, micro arcing and arcing that may lead to audio noise, radio/TV interference and electrical mechanical failures. Producing still and video images, the DayCor® Superb produces UV images, visible images, or a combination of UV and visible images. The unit features a large color VGA LCD display, onboard recording and storage, automatic focus, zoom, Blob counting for evaluation of corona strength, and reporting software .
- From Ofil LTD the DayCor® Ranger van mounted corona detection system provides vehicle mounted inspection capabilities for transmission lines. The DayCor® Ranger combines the DayCor® daytime corona detection technology with a highly precise pan and tilt unit that allows the operator to control the unit from within the vehicle. Narrow angle optical lenses enable the operator to pinpoint corona/arcing emitters from distances during all types of light and weather conditions. The unit produces UV images, visible images, or a combination of UV and visible images.
- From Ofil LTD the DayCor® Rom airborne corona detection system is the most sensitive airborne corona and arcing detection system and is housed in a gyro stabilized gimbaled payload. Rom provides high resolution video output of remotely inspected objects with high signal to background ratio that is ideal for high speed inspection of overhead lines. The system is based on UV solar blind technology. Rom's reporting software renders flexible customized professional reports.
